Victoria Beckham has opened up about how her perspective on fame has shifted over the years, especially as she enters a new chapter of her life at the age of 50. The celebrated fashion designer, who marked the milestone with a lavish celebration in April, reveals that her priorities have shifted significantly, and she no longer seeks the spotlight as she once did.

In an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Beckham explained that, while fame was once part of the fun, she now has a much more grounded approach to her life. “I used to enjoy the chase—the paparazzi, the flashing cameras as I walked down Bond Street. But now, I couldn’t care less about any of that,” she confessed. “I’ve been in the public eye for so long, and frankly, I’ve got so much else going on. My focus is no longer on fame, but on my family and my work.”
The former Spice Girl turned global fashion mogul recently celebrated her 50th birthday surrounded by loved ones, including her husband, football star David Beckham, their four children, and her Spice Girls bandmates. The extravagant bash reportedly cost around £250,000, with the family and their closest friends joining in the festivities. However, even amid the glamor, Victoria has made it clear that she is now much more focused on the quieter aspects of her life.
“I woke up at 50 and realized I cared less about the noise around me. There’s too much happening in my life now—business, kids, family. I’m in a different place,” she said.
Victoria has shifted her attention largely to her fashion empire, which continues to grow in influence. Her brand, Victoria Beckham, recently turned a profit for the first time, with sales jumping by 52 percent to £89 million. She credits much of this success to her fragrance line, which has taken off in recent years.
In addition to her fashion business, Victoria is also working on a new Netflix documentary series, which will give viewers an inside look at her journey from pop star to fashion designer. This project follows the success of her husband’s popular documentary, Beckham, which charted David’s legendary football career. While David’s series explored his public life in-depth, Victoria has made it clear that hers will focus more on her professional achievements, offering a behind-the-scenes look at her creative process and family life.
"I’m not going to get too personal on camera. This is about my work, my career, and how I've built my fashion brand," she revealed. “I think people will get to see a different side of me—one that’s warm, witty, and hardworking. But it's not going to be like David’s series—it won’t delve too deeply into my private life.”
Having started her fashion career in 2008, Victoria has cemented herself as one of the most respected names in the industry, with her designs worn by A-list celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. But it wasn’t always easy. Victoria admits that breaking into the fashion world was challenging, but her determination and passion for design have paid off.
“Launching my brand was a big leap, and I knew it wouldn’t be easy. But I believed in my vision,” she said. “Fashion has always been a way for me to express myself, and now, it’s a way for me to build something long-term.”
Victoria’s focus now is on growing her business and balancing family life. Her children, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, are all finding their own paths in the public eye, with Brooklyn pursuing a career in photography and Romeo and Cruz involved in their own ventures. Despite the growing fame of her kids, Victoria and David are determined to keep a lower profile.
“I’ve been through all of that—the intense media scrutiny, the constant chasing. Now, we’re much more discreet. It’s not about the celebrity lifestyle anymore,” she explained. “We’ve figured out how to do it all without putting ourselves in the public eye as much.”
As Victoria approaches a new decade in her life, her priorities are clear: family, business, and creative growth. Though she once thrived on the hustle and bustle of fame, her focus is now firmly on building a lasting legacy beyond the spotlight.
“I’ve always been ambitious, and that hasn’t changed. But at 50, I’ve learned to put more energy into the things that truly matter—my family, my work, and the people I love,” she concluded. “The fame? It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Victoria Beckham’s reflections on fame, success, and family will be featured in the December/January issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, on sale from November 6
