Women are front and center in the nominations for the 67th Grammy Awards, with Beyoncé and Taylor Swift leading the pack. Their major nominations, along with those of other top female artists like Billie Eilish and Charli XCX, are a testament to the powerful contributions women continue to make to the music industry.
Beyoncé’s country-inspired album, Cowboy Carter, has received top recognition, competing for Album of the Year and Best Country Album. The acclaimed project, which is the follow-up to her Renaissance trilogy, has also earned Beyoncé nominations for Record and Song of the Year with her hit single Texas Hold ’Em. Despite her record-breaking 32 Grammy wins, Beyoncé has yet to take home the Album of the Year award, making this a highly anticipated moment for her fans.
Taylor Swift is another major player in this year’s Grammy race. Her double album, The Tortured Poets Department, is up for Album of the Year, while her hit single Fortnight, a collaboration with Post Malone, is nominated for both Record and Song of the Year. Earlier this year, Swift made history as the first artist to win Album of the Year four times. During her acceptance speech, she surprised fans by announcing her 11th studio album, which later broke Spotify’s single-day streaming record.
Alongside these American superstars, British talent is making waves in the Grammy nominations. Charli XCX’s album Brat is up for Album of the Year, and her single 360 has earned a nomination for Record of the Year. Her collaboration with Billie Eilish, titled Guess, has also scored a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Newcomer Raye received her first Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical). Additionally, the iconic Beatles track Now and Then has been recognized with a Record of the Year nomination, bringing a touch of legacy to this year’s lineup.
This year’s nominations build on the trend seen at last year’s Grammy Awards, when female artists took home many of the top prizes. Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for What Was I Made For?, and Miley Cyrus’s summer hit Flowers won Record of the Year. Accepting her award, Cyrus shared her excitement and expressed gratitude, saying, “This award is amazing, but I hope it doesn’t change a thing… Not everyone will get a Grammy, but everyone is spectacular."
Only recordings released commercially in the U.S. from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024, qualified for consideration in the 2025 ceremony. With such a strong presence of female nominees, the 67th Grammy Awards are set to be a night to remember, celebrating the incredible achievements of women in music.
